JC Timber Furniture specialises in handcrafted timber furniture. Using both local and imported timbers we strive to create high quality furniture that will last a lifetime.
With a focus on quality, handcrafted and custom designs, we meticulously put our expertise and attention to detail into every piece we create.
Working one on one with our clients is at the forefront of the business. Using both traditional and modern joinery methods we can take your ideas and turn them into functional pieces of furniture.

The initial enquiry begins with filling out our short design form.
This includes providing contact details, dimensions, materials, budget constraints and even rough drawings or pictures of a particular design you are thinking of.
The more information you can provide here can greatly reduce the time it takes to get an initial price.
If you are unsure with anything in this step, we are more than happy to help in any way we can.
The first step in custom designing a piece of furniture is taking the information provided by the client.
For example, information in relation to the dimensions, materials, design elements and budget constraints.
From here we begin to create rough sketches on paper.
This process helps us to quickly develop an idea to then take the next step.
We then begin 3D CAD (computer-aided design) drawings.
This further helps in getting the proportions and design of the piece looking right and to the client’s specifications.
This step also aids in the joinery that will be used in constructing the piece
We then pass these drawings on to the client and from there, alterations can be made to the drawings until we have the perfect piece.
The upmost care is taken in this step to ensure the piece will not just be beautiful but also functional and built to last a lifetime.
The cost can vary from piece to piece depending on the materials used and the design and complexity of the piece.
We require a 30% deposit before work commences.
Depending on current workloads, the timeframe for a piece to be completed can be anywhere from 5 to 10 weeks from the time of the initial deposit being paid.
This will be confirmed at the time of your initial inquiry.

This dining table is handcrafted from solid oak, finished in a rich walnut stain that enhances the timber’s natural grain with deep, warm tones. The result is a classic yet sophisticated look that highlights both the craftsmanship and the inherent beauty of the wood.
The table features a robust trestle-style base, with hand-shaped legs joined using traditional mortise and tenon joinery for superior strength and durability. OAK BENCH SEAT

AMERICAN WHITE OAK RECEPTION DESK
This custom-built reception desk is crafted from American white oak, designed to make a striking first impression with its clean, modern form and warm natural tones. Measuring an impressive 4.2 meters long by 1.2 meters wide, the desk features a softly curved base that flows seamlessly into the expansive top.
Engineered with both beauty and practicality in mind, the desk was constructed in two halves to allow for installation on the 11th floor of a high-rise building in Melbourne, Victoria. Each section was precisely joined on-site to achieve a flawless finish, maintaining the integrity and strength of a single-piece design.
The result is a bold yet refined centrepiece that combines elegant design, functional form, and thoughtful construction.
MESSMATE BOOKCASE
This custom-built bookcase is crafted from beautiful Australian Messmate timber, showcasing the wood’s distinctive grain patterns and natural variations in tone. Designed to fit seamlessly into the room, it spans 4.5 metres along the TV wall and 6.5 metres along the adjoining wall, creating a warm and cohesive feature that transforms the space.
The unit combines open shelving and concealed storage, offering a practical yet elegant solution for both display and organization. The central section is designed to frame a television, with built-in cabinetry below providing ample space for media equipment and accessories. The surrounding shelves extend across both walls, creating a balanced, built-in look that emphasizes clean lines and natural texture.
WORMY CHESTNUT TV UNIT
This custom TV unit is made from wormy chestnut, highlighting the timber’s beautiful natural character with rich grain variations, gum veins, and unique markings. Designed as a floating wall-mounted piece, it offers a sleek, modern look while keeping the floor space open and uncluttered.
The unit features curved slatted doors on each end, combining craftsmanship and function with smooth, rounded edges and practical ventilation for electronic equipment. The central drawer provides hidden storage, framed by open shelving that allows for easy access to media devices or display items.

The rich, warm tones and distinctive ray fleck grain pattern of the Silky Oak give the piece a unique character, highlighting both the history of the material and the quality of the craftsmanship.
